Cheese sauce is one of the most popular sauces in the world, and it’s easy to make. It’s a great way to use up leftover cheese, and it’s also perfect for when you have a lot of cheese on hand and no idea what to do with it.

How to Make Cheese Sauce

STEP 1: Bring Ingredients Together

Start by bringing together your ingredients. If you don’t have any milk, then start with some goat’s milk yogurt. It works perfectly in place of milk. If you want to add a little flavor, try adding 1/4 teaspoon of nutritional yeast.

STEP 2: Cook It

Next, heat up your pan. I use a cast iron skillet. I find that it gives me the best heat retention, but a regular non-stick skillet will do the job too.

STEP 3: Add Other Ingredients

Add your salt and pepper. This helps bring out the flavor of the cheese. Next, add your onion. You can chop it into large pieces if you like.

STEP 4: Add Your Cheese

To make the cheese sauce, you need to add some cheese. Any kind will do. Try a combination of different cheeses for a unique flavor. I love to mix cheddar and parmesan together.

STEP 5: Mix Everything Up

Now it’s time to mix everything together. Use a whisk to combine all of your ingredients well. You may need to use a blender to get a smooth consistency.

STEP 6: Cook It

Once you’ve got a nice, creamy consistency, it’s time to cook it. Turn down the heat to medium and cook it until it reaches a temperature of 165 degrees. I like to cook it for about 10 minutes.

STEP 7: Serve It Once it’s done, you can serve it with pasta, bread, or anything else that you’d normally serve with cheese sauce.
